2025 Fall Rec Softball

Please review the following prior to registering for the Fall 2025 season.

BGSLL offers coach pitch divisions for our 6U and 8U players. Both of these divisions focus on building skills and learning the fundamentals of the game. Girl pitching is introduced in 8U so the girls can begin to get used to what they will see in older divisions. 10U and above are all true fastpitch divisions. Fastpitch is closer to baseball and offers a higher-speed game. The pitch, although still delivered in an underhand delivery, comes much faster. Fastpitch is delivered, usually in a windmill type wind-up for more power, and the pitch comes in at a much smaller arc than slowpitch or coach pitch. Because the pitch comes faster, it is much harder to get a hit. Fastpitch also has many more double plays, as it is hard to hit a good solid hit out of the outfield.

One of the biggest differences between fastpitch and coach pitch is you can lead off and steal bases, and players in fastpitch can score on passed balls. Coach pitch runners must stay on their base until the ball is hit. This makes the game closer in strategy to baseball. In coach pitch, there is absolutely no stealing, and you are not allowed to leave the bag until the ball is hit by the batter, making for a slower game. With stealing allowed in fastpitch, speed is just as important as power.

2025 Fall Softball will consist of one practice through the week and double headers on Saturdays.

The season will begin on August 9th, and will end on October 4th (9 games for 6U & 10 games for all other divisions).
All games will be played on Saturdays, as double headers, except 6U which will play a weeknight game and single games on Saturdays.
In the event games are canceled due to weather, we will do our best to reschedule them accordingly.
Players will receive a jersey and socks.

6U: Born in 2019 & 2020
8U: Born in 2017 & 2018
10U: Born in 2015 & 2016
12U: Born in 2013 & 2014
14/16U: Born in 2009 through 2012

Wednesday, 7/23 - Late registration fee kicks in & regular registration ends @ Noon
Thursday, 7/31 - Late registration closes @ 11:59 PM
Saturday, 8/9 - Practices start
Saturday, 8/23 - Doubleheaders start
Saturday, 10/4 - Single Elimination Tournament for 8U, 10U, 12U & 14/16U

Games - Fri, 9/5 (games originally scheduled for 9/6 will be broken up between the 5th and 7th due to the Band Invitational at the HS)

Games - Sun, 9/7 (most games will be played this day, double headers for most teams possible)
